The FPS DX-S is a purpose-built compact fuel maintenance system for facilities that require dependable, automated diesel and bio-fuel polishing within the footprint of a gen-set enclosure, engine room, or other confined indoor installation. Unlike portable polishing equipment, the FPS DX-S is designed for permanent wall mounting — operating unattended on a programmable schedule to remove water accumulation, sludge, and particulate contamination before it degrades fuel quality. Its continuous-duty DC gear pump with Viton seals circulates tank fuel through a high-efficiency primary filter (3μ water-block or 10μ fine) and an LG-X 500 inline magnetic conditioner. The Smart Filtration Controller ties everything together with programmable timer control, safety alarms, and automatic pump shutdown — giving operators a self-sufficient fuel polishing system that requires minimal day-to-day attention.

  • Smart Filtration Controller with Programmable Digital Timer: The integrated Smart Filtration Controller manages all system automation and protection. Operators can program up to eight independent ON/OFF timer cycles using any of 15 available day combinations, setting the system to polish fuel during off-peak hours or overnight periods. The controller features memory retention during power outages — programmed schedules survive interruptions and resume automatically when power is restored. Alarm indicator lights provide immediate visual status for leak detection and high pressure events, and a dedicated circuit breaker doubles as the system power switch.
  • High-Efficiency Filtration: 10μ Fine or 3μ Water-Block Cartridge: Every litre of fuel processed by the FPS DX-S passes through a primary filter designed for either 10μ particulate removal or 3μ water-block performance. The 10μ fine filter captures microscopic rust, dirt, and sludge, while the 3μ water-block filter additionally repels and removes emulsified water from the fuel stream. This high-efficiency filtration is critical for eliminating microbial contamination sources and preventing clogging of downstream engine fuel systems. A 50 mesh basket strainer upstream captures larger debris to extend primary filter life.
  • Continuous-Duty DC Gear Pump with Viton Seals: The FPS DX-S is driven by a continuous-duty DC gear pump rated for sustained operation at 1.3 GPM without the thermal constraints of intermittent-duty alternatives. Viton seals — specified for resistance to diesel, bio-fuel blends, and chemical additives — protect all internal pump sealing surfaces against degradation. The pump delivers consistent flow performance across the operating temperature range of 41 to 104°F (5 to 40°C) and requires no specialised lubrication under normal duty cycles.
  • LG-X 500 Inline Magnetic Fuel Conditioner: Every polishing pass includes treatment through the LG-X 500 inline magnetic conditioner, mounted upstream of the primary filter. Its magnetic field acts on ferrous micro-particles and hydrocarbon molecular structures, reducing the tendency of fine particulates to re-agglomerate into sludge. This passive, maintenance‑free conditioner contributes to a more chemically stable fuel condition over multiple automated cycles, extending intervals between intensive tank cleaning.
  • Integrated Safety Alarms with Automatic Pump Shutdown: The FPS DX-S features a comprehensive safety suite. The leak detection alarm triggers when the float switch in the drip tray detects a raised liquid level — indicating an internal fuel leak — and locks the pump in a safe state until the fault is cleared. The high pressure alarm activates when discharge pressure exceeds 15 PSI, signalling that the primary filter is clogged or a downstream restriction exists. Both alarms shut down the pump immediately and require operator acknowledgement via the Smart Filtration Controller before resuming operation.
  • Compact Wall-Mounted Construction for Confined Spaces: At approximately 15″ × 18.5″ × 7.5″ (38 × 47 × 19 cm) and around 20 lbs (9.1 kg), the FPS DX-S is dimensioned for installations where available wall space inside generator enclosures, marine engine rooms, or compact plant rooms limits equipment options. All components mount to a powder-coated aluminum backplate that provides corrosion resistance and structural rigidity. The 1/2″ hose barb inlet and outlet ports accept standard fuel line, keeping plumbing footprint minimal, while stainless steel plumbing materials deliver long-term chemical compatibility.
  • Dual DC Power Input Options: 12VDC or 24VDC: The FPS DX-S accepts either 12VDC at 10A or 24VDC at 5A, making it compatible with generator DC auxiliary outputs, vessel electrical systems, or dedicated DC distribution panels. Low power consumption at both voltage ratings makes the system practical for installations with limited electrical capacity, such as small standby generator enclosures or compact engine rooms where high-current AC loads are not available.
  • Standby Generator Sets (Data Centers, Hospitals, Telecoms): Long idle periods allow water condensation, microbial growth, and sludge to accumulate. The FPS DX-S runs automated polishing cycles on a programmed schedule, ensuring diesel quality remains at operational specification regardless of how long the generator has been on standby. Its compact size fits inside most generator enclosures.
  • Marine Engine Rooms & Vessels: Diesel-powered vessels contend with fuel contamination from hull vibration, seawater ingress, and condensation. The FPS DX-S integrates with 12V/24V vessel electrical systems, polishing fuel during idle periods at berth or overnight. Its automated operation requires no crew attention between scheduled filter servicing.
  • Remote & Off-Grid Power Generation Sites: Telecommunications repeaters, mining operations, and off-grid facilities often have limited maintenance personnel. Installing an FPS DX-S allows continuous automated fuel maintenance between service visits, with alarm outputs providing early warning of filter saturation or water accumulation that can be relayed to remote monitoring systems.
  • Industrial Fuel Storage Tanks: Manufacturing plants that maintain on-site diesel reserves for emergency systems, fire pump drivers, or backup power benefit from continuous fuel polishing to prevent microbial contamination. The programmable timer allows fuel maintenance during planned maintenance windows, integrating with existing preventative programmes.
  • Commercial Buildings with On-Site Diesel Reserves: Office towers, hotels, and shopping centres housing rooftop or basement diesel generators need fuel to remain clean throughout long storage periods. The FPS DX-S installs permanently in generator rooms, programmed to run weekly cycles, providing facility managers with continuous fuel quality assurance.
  • Rail & Locomotive Fuel Storage Yards: Maintains large volumes of stored diesel at rail yards, polishing fuel before dispensing into locomotives to protect sensitive high-pressure injection systems from premature wear caused by water and particulate contamination.

Specifications apply to the standard FPS DX-S fuel maintenance system. Primary filter options include 10μ fine filter (FFS-10) or 3μ water-block filter (WBS-3). Replacement basket strainer: TK-070 (50 mesh).

How the FPS DX-S Fuel Maintenance System Works

The FPS DX-S operates on a simple but highly effective closed-loop fuel polishing circuit. Once installed and plumbed to the storage tank, fuel is drawn from the lowest accessible point — where water and sludge naturally accumulate — through the 1/2″ inlet hose barb. The fuel first passes through the LG-X 500 inline magnetic conditioner, whose magnetic field breaks down and de‑clusters microscopic paraffinic and ferrous contaminants. This pre‑treatment improves the fuel's ability to shed water and reduces particulate re-agglomeration.

From the conditioner, fuel flows through the 50 mesh basket strainer to capture large debris, then enters the primary filter housing. Here, centrifugal action and the selected filter cartridge (3μ water‑block or 10μ fine) remove both solid particulates and free water. The cleaned fuel then passes to the continuous‑duty DC gear pump, which returns it to the storage tank via the outlet port, completing the polishing loop. A pressure switch on the pump discharge side continuously monitors for restrictions: if pressure reaches 15 PSI — indicating a clogged filter — the pump shuts down and triggers the high pressure alarm. The leak detection float switch in the drip tray similarly halts operation if a fuel leak is detected. The Smart Filtration Controller manages all timing and alarm resets, running up to eight programmed cycles per week with full memory retention during power outages.

The 10μ fine filter is a high-efficiency particulate filter, ideal for removing fine solid contaminants like rust, dirt, and sludge. The 3μ water-block filter is specifically designed to remove both solid particles and emulsified water from the fuel, making it the best choice for tanks known to have high water condensation or contamination.

The FPS DX-S is designed for diesel fuel and bio-diesel blends with a flash point at or above 100°F (37.8°C). It must NOT be used with gasoline or any other flammable liquid below this flash point threshold, as doing so creates an immediate fire and explosion hazard.

The system operates on 12VDC/10A or 24VDC/5A, allowing direct integration with generator control panels, DC distribution boards, or battery systems. The unit is wall-mounted, and all plumbing connections are 1/2″ hose barbs, making installation straightforward for qualified personnel.

The Smart Filtration Controller includes a high pressure alarm. When the primary filter becomes clogged and discharge pressure reaches 15 PSI, the controller automatically shuts down the pump and illuminates the alarm indicator. After replacing the filter element, reset the alarm via the controller panel to resume operation.

The LG-X 500 is a passive, maintenance‑free device that applies a strong magnetic field to the fuel stream. This field helps break down and de‑cluster microscopic paraffin and asphaltene molecules, improving fuel stability, reducing surface tension of water droplets for easier separation, and slowing sludge formation in the tank.

The FPS DX-S is intended exclusively for permanent indoor installation — it is not rated for outdoor or exposed environments. It should be wall-mounted on a hard, level surface inside a well-ventilated space with ambient temperature between 41 and 104°F (5 to 40°C). Its compact dimensions make it ideal for generator enclosures, marine engine rooms, and plant utility rooms.
