This programmable unit operates in coordination with an external pump and includes a Smart Filtration Controller for precise scheduling. Engineered for reliability, it is housed in a durable NEMA 3R-rated enclosure, providing protection against the elements for both outdoor and indoor deployment. The system is ideal for critical applications such as emergency generators, fleet fueling stations, and industrial storage facilities where fuel integrity is paramount.

The STS 6000 P-35 combines robust mechanical design with intelligent electronic controls, delivering reliable diesel fuel maintenance across demanding industrial and commercial environments.

  • Smart Filtration Controller (SFC): The integrated SFC80 is a programmable logic controller (PLC)-based timer that allows users to set automated runtime schedules. It features memory retention during power outages and a user-friendly LCD display for seamless system configuration and status monitoring.
  • Comprehensive Multi-Stage Filtration: The system utilizes a two-stage filtration process. A primary coalescing filter efficiently removes water and large particulates, followed by a secondary fine filter that polishes the fuel down to 3 or 10 microns, ensuring optimal fuel cleanliness.
  • Integrated Safety and Alarm System: Equipped with multiple safety features including leak detection, high-pressure monitoring, high-water alerts, and no-flow detection. In the event of a fault, the system triggers an automatic shutdown and activates alarm indicators to protect both the equipment and the facility.
  • Robust NEMA Rated Enclosure: The standard powder-coated enclosure carries a NEMA 3R rating, protecting sensitive internal components from falling rain, sleet, snow, and external ice formation. For more demanding conditions, optional NEMA 4 or 4X stainless steel enclosures are available.
  • Inline Magnetic Fuel Conditioner: The integrated LG-X 4000 inline magnetic conditioner helps stabilize diesel and bio-fuels by altering molecular bonding. This process reduces surface tension, improves combustion efficiency, and helps prevent the formation of sludge and deposits.
  • Programmable Automation & Remote Monitoring: The system supports fully automated operation with programmable timers. It also features dry contacts for remote alarm monitoring (summary alarm and leak detection) and can be integrated with external building management systems (BMS) or central control rooms.
  • Flexible Configuration Options: The STS 6000 P-35 is available with multiple voltage configurations (120V/60Hz, 230V/50Hz, 208-230V/60Hz) and offers system upgrade options such as an Auto Water Drain (AWD), enclosure heaters, pressure transmitters, and multi-tank assembly kits for expanded functionality.
  • Emergency Backup Generators: Ensures that diesel fuel for critical backup power systems remains clean, dry, and stable. Regular fuel polishing prevents generator failures during emergencies by removing water and microbial growth that can clog injectors and damage engine components.
  • Industrial Fuel Storage Tanks: Ideal for manufacturing facilities, refineries, and chemical plants that store large volumes of diesel. The system helps meet environmental compliance and operational efficiency standards by preventing fuel degradation and tank bottom sludge accumulation.
  • Commercial Fleet and Trucking Depots: Maintains fuel quality at centralized fueling stations, protecting fleet vehicles from contaminated fuel that can cause downtime, injector failures, and expensive engine repairs. The programmable timer allows for overnight fuel polishing during off-peak hours.
  • Marine and Offshore Vessels: Suitable for workboats, barges, and marine auxiliary engines that operate in high-humidity environments where water ingress and microbial contamination (diesel bug) are common. The optional corrosion-resistant NEMA 4X enclosure provides additional protection against saltwater exposure.
  • Telecommunications and Data Centers: Supports backup power infrastructure at cell towers and data centers where generator reliability is crucial. The automated operation and remote alarm capabilities enable unattended fuel quality management in remote locations.
  • Agricultural Operations and Fuel Depots: Helps farms and agricultural fuel depots manage diesel used in tractors, harvesters, and irrigation pumps. The system prevents fuel contamination from condensation and biological growth, reducing equipment downtime during critical harvest seasons.
  • Rail and Locomotive Fueling Facilities: Maintains fuel quality in large storage tanks at rail yards, protecting locomotive engines from contamination-related performance issues. The optional multi-tank configuration allows the system to service multiple storage tanks in sequence.

How the STS 6000 P-35 Fuel Polishing System Works

The STS 6000 P-35 operates on a simple recirculation principle to maintain fuel quality. The system is installed between the fuel storage tank and a dedicated external pump. When activated automatically via a programmed timer, or manually by an operator, the inlet solenoid valve opens. Fuel is drawn from the lowest point of the tank and passes through the system's plumbing. It first enters the primary filter/water separator, which utilizes a coalescing filter element to merge microscopic water droplets into larger ones, allowing them to separate from the fuel and settle at the bottom of the housing.

The fuel then flows through the LG-X 4000 inline magnetic fuel conditioner, which helps stabilize the fuel and improve combustion characteristics. Subsequently, the fuel passes through the secondary fine filters, which capture any remaining particulate matter down to a precise micron rating. After this multi-stage cleaning process, the polished fuel is returned to the storage tank through a separate outlet port, positioned away from the suction line to ensure complete tank turnover. The system continuously monitors pressure levels and flow rates, and automatically shuts down and triggers an alarm if any fault is detected, such as a filter blockage or water accumulation.

Common Questions Answered

The complete system includes a NEMA 3R rated enclosure, a Smart Filtration Controller (SFC80), a primary coalescing filter housing, a secondary fine filter housing, an LG-X 4000 magnetic fuel conditioner, a leak detection float switch, a flow switch, pressure transducers, pressure gauges, and all necessary plumbing components. Filter elements are also included with the standard system.

Filter elements should be inspected regularly and replaced at least every six months under normal operating conditions. However, if the system is used heavily (more than eight hours per day), or if the fuel being polished is heavily contaminated, more frequent replacements may be required. The system's high-pressure alarm will also indicate when filter changes are necessary.

The standard NEMA 3R enclosure provides protection against falling rain, sleet, snow, and external ice formation, making it suitable for most outdoor installations. The optional NEMA 4X enclosure, constructed from stainless steel, offers additional protection against windblown dust, splashing water, hose-directed water, and corrosion, making it ideal for harsh industrial, marine, or coastal environments.

Yes, the system offers an optional Multi-Tank Assembly configuration. This setup includes external ball valves and allows the STS 6000 P-35 to service multiple storage tanks sequentially. The Smart Filtration Controller can be programmed with independent timer schedules for each connected tank, and high-level float switches can be wired in to prevent overfilling.

The optional Auto Water Drain (AWD) system automatically removes collected water from the primary filter housing without manual intervention. When water reaches a high level, the system pauses operation, drains the water to a collection drum, and then resumes normal polishing. This feature reduces maintenance frequency and is particularly useful for unattended or remote installations.

The SFC80 controller includes comprehensive alarm features: Leak Detection (from the drip tray float switch), No Flow (if flow is not detected during operation), High Pressure (if filter differential pressure exceeds set points), High Water (if water is detected in the primary filter), and Tank Overflow (for multi-tank configurations). These alarms trigger a system shutdown and provide local indication, with dry contacts available for remote monitoring.
