The STS 6004 is an industrial-grade, automated fuel polishing system engineered to proactively maintain fuel quality in storage tanks. By operating on a user-defined schedule, it circulates fuel through a multi-stage filtration process to remove free water, sediment, and byproducts of microbial contamination. Housed in a durable, NEMA-rated enclosure, the STS 6004 is suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments in sectors like backup power, marine, and commercial fleet fueling, ensuring that your stored diesel remains within specification and ready for use.

The STS 6004 combines a robust mechanical design with intelligent automation, delivering continuous fuel conditioning across the most demanding industrial and commercial environments.

  • Smart Filtration Controller (SFC70): The heart of the system features a programmable logic controller (PLC) with an LCD display. It allows you to set up to three start/stop cycles per day, offering flexible scheduling for automatic fuel conditioning without manual intervention.
  • Fully Automated & Programmable Operation: Set a runtime schedule to polish fuel during off-peak hours. The system operates independently once installed, automatically shutting down and alerting you via indicator lights when maintenance like filter changes is required.
  • Continuous-Duty Spur Gear Pump: Equipped with a robust 1/3 HP spur gear pump and Viton seals, the STS 6004 is built for longevity and chemical compatibility with diesel and bio-fuels, ensuring consistent flow rates even during extended runtimes.
  • Comprehensive Safety & Alarm Package: Protect your engine and system with integrated alarms. The unit features automatic shutdown for leak detection, high vacuum (clogged primary filter), high pressure (clogged secondary filter), and high water levels in the separator.
  • Dual-Stage Filtration & Conditioning: The system utilizes a primary water separator/filter (available in 10µ, 30µ, or 60µ SS screen) followed by a secondary fine filter (down to 3µ). An inline LG-X 1500 magnetic fuel conditioner is also included to help stabilize fuel.
  • NEMA 3R Rated Enclosure: The powder-coated steel enclosure protects internal components from falling rain, sleet, snow, and external ice formation, making the system suitable for sheltered outdoor mounting or indoor mechanical rooms.
  • Backup Generator Fuel Storage: Maintain the quality of diesel in standby generators to ensure instant start-up and reliable operation during power outages, preventing wet stacking and injector fouling caused by degraded fuel.
  • Commercial & Industrial Fuel Depots: Keep large volume storage tanks free of water and sediment. Regular polishing reduces the risk of filter clogging at the dispensing point and extends the life of downstream equipment.
  • Marine Vessels & Workboats: Combat the effects of condensation and microbial growth in marine fuel tanks. The automated system ensures fuel remains clean for main propulsion and auxiliary engines in harsh saltwater environments.
  • Fleet Refueling Stations: Integrate the STS 6004 into your bulk storage system to polish fuel as it sits in the tank, eliminating sludge buildup and ensuring that every vehicle receives contaminant-free fuel.
  • Telecommunications & Data Centers: Ensure the integrity of fuel for critical backup power systems. Automated fuel conditioning maximizes the lifespan of stored fuel, which is vital for facilities requiring 100% uptime.
  • Agricultural Diesel Storage: Protect expensive farming equipment from water and particulate damage. Routine polishing removes condensation that accumulates in above-ground storage tanks due to daily temperature fluctuations.

How the STS 6004 Fuel Polishing System Works

The STS 6004 operates as a side-stream filtration system. The spur gear pump draws fuel from the lowest point of the storage tank through the inlet ball valve. Fuel first enters the primary filter/water separator, where a centrifugal action forces heavier water droplets to drop into a collection sump while particulate matter is captured by the filter element. The fuel then passes through an inline magnetic conditioner to neutralize microscopic contaminants before moving to the secondary fine filter. This final stage removes remaining particulate down to the micron level. The Smart Filtration Controller manages the pump based on the user's programmed schedule. If the vacuum or pressure exceeds set points (indicating clogged filters), or if water is detected in the sump, the system automatically shuts down and triggers an alarm indicator, preventing damage to the pump and ensuring only clean fuel is returned to the tank.
