The STS 6010 fuel polishing system is an enclosed, fully automated solution designed to preserve the integrity of stored diesel and bio-fuels. It effectively eliminates free water, sludge, microbial contamination, and solid particulates from fuel tanks. Operating at a nominal flow rate of 10 gallons per minute, the system can polish up to 4,800 gallons of fuel during an 8-hour runtime. Its programmable Smart Filtration Controller allows operators to schedule automatic filtration cycles, while integrated sensors provide protection against leaks, high vacuum, and high pressure. Housed in a NEMA-rated enclosure, the STS 6010 is suitable for both outdoor and indoor installations, making it a versatile choice for critical power and fuel storage applications across various industries.

The STS 6010 is purpose-engineered for facilities requiring autonomous diesel polishing with a reliable 10 GPM flow rate. The combination of a smart PLC-based controller, continuous-duty 3/4 HP spur gear pump, two-stage filtration, and LG-X 3000 magnetic conditioner delivers robust fuel maintenance.

  • Smart Filtration Controller: The system features an advanced PLC-based controller with an LCD display. It allows for fully automated and programmable operation, enabling users to set up to three start and stop times per day for each day of the week. This ensures routine fuel maintenance without manual intervention, with memory retention during power outages.
  • Continuous-Duty 3/4 HP Gear Pump: Equipped with a robust 3/4 HP spur gear pump and Viton seals, the system is designed for continuous-duty operation. This ensures reliable fuel circulation at the rated flow rate across a range of diesel and bio-fuel viscosities, minimizing wear and tear for long-term durability.
  • Two-Stage Contaminant Removal: The primary stage combines a centrifugal water separator with a hydrophobic filter element to efficiently remove bulk water and large particulates. The secondary stage uses fine filter cartridges (available in multiple micron ratings) to capture microscopic solid particles, delivering clean, polished fuel that meets stringent engine requirements.
  • Integrated Safety & Alarm Suite: To protect both the system and the fuel storage tank, the STS 6010 includes automatic pump shut-down features. It monitors for leak detection, high vacuum (16 in-Hg), high pressure (22 PSI), high water accumulation, low/no flow conditions, and pump overload, providing alert indications for timely servicing.
  • Durable NEMA-Rated Enclosure: The system is housed in a rugged NEMA 3R-rated powder-coated enclosure as standard, with optional NEMA 4 or 4X stainless steel upgrades. This design protects internal components from rain, snow, sleet, windblown dust, and ice formation, allowing for confident installation in harsh outdoor environments or confined indoor mechanical rooms.
  • LG-X 3000 Magnetic Fuel Conditioner: An inline magnetic conditioner that stabilizes diesel and bio-fuels by breaking down and de-clustering paraffin, asphaltene, and other degradation compounds. This passive process improves fuel filterability, enhances combustion efficiency, and extends the overall storage life of the fuel.
  • Standby Power Generation: Prevents fuel degradation in diesel generator tanks for data centers, hospitals, and telecom facilities, ensuring reliable startup and operation during power outages by delivering clean fuel on demand.
  • Industrial Fuel Storage Farms: Maintains the quality of bulk diesel stored for heavy equipment, boilers, and fleet vehicles in industries such as mining, construction, and agriculture, reducing maintenance costs and unscheduled downtime.
  • Marine & Offshore Vessels: Protects marine engines from water and sludge buildup in fuel tanks caused by condensation and biological growth, enhancing engine reliability and reducing filter changes in demanding maritime environments.
  • Municipal & Government Facilities: Maintains fuel integrity for emergency response fleets and backup generators at critical infrastructure sites, ensuring compliance with operational readiness requirements and extending fuel storage life.
  • Fuel Distribution Terminals: Polishes fuel before transfer to ensure product quality meets specifications, reducing the risk of customer complaints and engine issues related to contaminated fuel.

Specifications apply to the standard STS 6010 fuel maintenance system. Primary filter cartridges are interchangeable. The standard-issue element is the 30µ particulate filter unless otherwise requested. At 50 Hz, nominal flow rate decreases from 10 GPM to 8 GPM.

How the STS 6010 Fuel Polishing System Works

The STS 6010 operates as a closed-loop fuel conditioning system. The programmable controller activates the 3/4 HP gear pump based on a user-defined schedule. Fuel is drawn from the lowest point of the storage tank through the 1" NPT inlet and enters the primary filter/water separator vessel, where centrifugal force helps separate bulk water and heavy solids from the fuel stream.

The fuel then passes through a hydrophobic filter media that repels entrained water, ensuring only clean, dry fuel proceeds downstream. Next, the LG-X 3000 inline magnetic conditioner subjects the fuel to a strong magnetic field, which helps break down molecular clusters of paraffin and asphaltenes to stabilize the fuel and improve combustion characteristics.

The conditioned fuel then moves through the pump and into the secondary spin-on fine filter, which captures microscopic suspended solids. Finally, the polished fuel is returned to the tank via the outlet port, completing the cycle. Throughout the process, sensors monitor for leaks, restricted flow, excessive vacuum or pressure, and automatically shut down the pump to protect the system.

The STS 6010 fuel polishing system delivers a nominal flow rate of 10 gallons per minute (GPM) or 600 gallons per hour (GPH) at 60 Hz. When configured with a 50 Hz power supply, the flow rate adjusts to 8 GPM.

Yes. The STS 6010 is housed in a NEMA 3R-rated powder-coated enclosure as standard, which protects against falling rain, sleet, snow, and external ice formation. Optional NEMA 4 or 4X stainless steel enclosures are available for additional protection against windblown dust, hose-directed water, and corrosive environments.

The system removes free and emulsified water, sludge, rust, microbial contamination, and solid particulate matter. Its two-stage filtration process ensures the fuel is polished to a high standard, protecting downstream engines and equipment.

The LG-X 3000 is an inline magnetic fuel conditioner that stabilizes diesel and bio-fuels. It helps break down natural fuel degradation compounds, improving filterability and combustion characteristics.

The system is capable of a vertical lift of up to 15 feet or a horizontal run of up to 100 feet when using the minimum recommended piping size with no additional restrictions. Any combination of vertical and horizontal runs will reduce the suction capability proportionally.

Regular maintenance includes checking and replacing the primary and secondary filter elements, draining collected water from the water separator, and inspecting the system for leaks. The system's smart controller provides visual alarms to indicate when service is needed, such as a high vacuum alarm signaling a clogged filter.
