  • Six-Channel Thermocouple Scanning: The TDX6 sequentially scans up to six thermocouple inputs, displaying each channel number alongside its live temperature reading. This continuous multi-point monitoring eliminates the need for separate instruments per measurement point.
  • Individually Settable Trip Points: Every sensor channel has its own field-adjustable trip point that can be configured for alarm, shutdown, or process control functions. This flexibility allows operators to tailor protection thresholds to each specific measurement location and process requirement.
  • Manual Channel Lock-In via Thermocouple Read Button: A dedicated push button allows operators to manually step through the six channels or lock in on a specific channel for close observation. Automatic sequential scanning resumes within approximately three seconds after the button is released.
  • Read/Scan Selector for Easy Trip Point Viewing: The integrated read/scan selector switch allows operators to quickly review and verify individual trip point settings without interrupting the monitoring cycle—convenient for routine checks and commissioning.
  • Type J and K Thermocouple Compatibility: The instrument accepts both grounded and ungrounded Type J or Type K thermocouples as standard, with other thermocouple types available on request. This broad compatibility simplifies integration into existing installations.
  • Isolated F.E.T. Outputs for Reliable Switching: Six isolated Field-Effect Transistor outputs (0.1 A at 250 VDC) provide clean, reliable switching signals. Outputs activate when temperature rises above the set trip point and deactivate once the reading drops below by the reset differential—ideal for driving annunciators or shutdown relays.
  • Hazardous Area Certification: The TDX6 carries a Class I, Division 2, Group D hazardous area rating, making it suitable for deployment in environments where flammable gases or vapors may be present under abnormal conditions, such as gas compressor stations and wellhead facilities.
  • Multiple Power Supply Options: The unit operates from CD ignition systems, 120 VAC mains, or 24 VDC battery/regulated supplies, providing flexibility for installations that may not have access to standard AC power.
  • Fast Display Update and Compact 1/4 DIN Housing: Temperature readings update every 0.3 seconds, ensuring near-real-time visibility of process conditions. The ABS 1/4 DIN case (90 × 90 mm) fits standard panel cutouts, minimising installation space and effort.
  • Open Thermocouple Detection: If a thermocouple input becomes open-circuit or disconnected, the display indicates this fault condition for that channel, enabling rapid fault identification and reducing downtime during troubleshooting.
  • Gas Compressor Suction & Discharge Monitoring: The TDX6 is widely used to track inlet and outlet temperatures across gas compressor systems, providing early warning of abnormal thermal conditions that could indicate valve failure, overloading, or lubrication issues.
  • Engine & Compressor Jacket Water Temperature: Monitors coolant temperatures at multiple points on large industrial engines and integral compressor packages, helping operators detect cooling system inefficiencies before they escalate into costly shutdowns.
  • Engine Exhaust Temperature Measurement: Tracks exhaust temperatures across multiple cylinders or exhaust manifold points to identify misfiring cylinders, fuel delivery problems, or turbocharger issues in gas and diesel-powered prime movers.
  • Generator Sets: Provides multi-point thermal monitoring for generator installations, covering bearing temperatures, winding temperatures, and coolant points to maintain continuous and safe power output.
  • Industrial Pumps: Used to monitor bearing and casing temperatures on centrifugal or positive displacement pumps handling process fluids, preventing pump damage caused by overheating due to cavitation, dry running, or mechanical wear.
  • Process Temperature Monitoring: Suitable for general industrial process applications where multiple temperature measurement points need to be consolidated into a single compact instrument with automatic alarm and shutdown capability.

Precision six-point temperature scanning with field-configurable trip points, multiple power options, and hazardous area certification—built for demanding industrial environments.

How the TDX6 Temperature Scanner Works

The TDX6 operates by continuously cycling through up to six thermocouple inputs in sequence, displaying each channel number alongside its live temperature value. The scanning cycle completes a full pass across all active channels every 30 seconds, while the display refreshes every 0.3 seconds to reflect current readings with minimal lag.

Each channel is assigned an independent trip point, set directly on the unit using the read/scan selector. When a monitored temperature rises above its programmed threshold, the corresponding isolated F.E.T. output activates—triggering downstream devices such as alarms, annunciators, or engine shutdown controllers. The output resets automatically once the temperature drops back below the trip point by the defined reset differential, preventing nuisance cycling.

A 10-second start-up delay prevents false trips during system power-on, while the open thermocouple detection feature provides a visible fault indication if a sensor becomes disconnected. Operators can manually step through channels at any time using the thermocouple read push button, and the scanner returns to automatic mode shortly after the button is released.

The TDX6 supports up to six thermocouple inputs, each scanned sequentially and displayed with its channel number. All six trip points remain active and armed throughout the scanning cycle, providing continuous protection across every monitored point.

The standard unit accepts Type J and Type K thermocouples in both grounded and ungrounded configurations. Other thermocouple types can be accommodated on request. Ungrounded thermocouples are generally preferred to avoid stray currents that can affect reading accuracy.

Yes. The TTD™ model of the TDX6 is rated for Class I, Division 2, Group D hazardous areas, making it suitable for gas compressor stations, wellhead facilities, and other locations where flammable gases may be present under abnormal conditions. Note that an isolation barrier is required when interfacing with equipment rated for Class I, Division 1 areas.

The TDX6 is available in models that operate from CD ignition systems, 120 VAC (50/60 Hz), 80–250 VDC, and 24 VDC supplies. This range of options makes it compatible with both field-based engine installations and standard industrial panel environments.

Yes. Pressing the thermocouple read push button allows operators to step manually through the channels and hold on a specific one for detailed observation. The unit automatically resumes normal scanning approximately three seconds after the button is released, so continuous protection is never interrupted.

If any thermocouple input goes open-circuit, the display shows a fault indicator for that specific channel—a "1" appears to the right of the channel number—while the trip point for that channel continues to operate. This allows operators to quickly identify a wiring or sensor fault without losing protection on the remaining channels.
