The TDX6 Temperature Scanner is a six-channel industrial pyrometer designed to continuously scan and display readings from up to six thermocouples. Each channel features an independently adjustable trip point for alarm, shutdown, or process control—making it an ideal solution for gas compressors, engine protection, exhaust monitoring, and critical industrial temperature measurement applications.
Precision six-point temperature scanning with field-configurable trip points, multiple power options, and hazardous area certification—built for demanding industrial environments.

The TDX6 operates by continuously cycling through up to six thermocouple inputs in sequence, displaying each channel number alongside its live temperature value. The scanning cycle completes a full pass across all active channels every 30 seconds, while the display refreshes every 0.3 seconds to reflect current readings with minimal lag.
Each channel is assigned an independent trip point, set directly on the unit using the read/scan selector. When a monitored temperature rises above its programmed threshold, the corresponding isolated F.E.T. output activates—triggering downstream devices such as alarms, annunciators, or engine shutdown controllers. The output resets automatically once the temperature drops back below the trip point by the defined reset differential, preventing nuisance cycling.
A 10-second start-up delay prevents false trips during system power-on, while the open thermocouple detection feature provides a visible fault indication if a sensor becomes disconnected. Operators can manually step through channels at any time using the thermocouple read push button, and the scanner returns to automatic mode shortly after the button is released.
The TDX6 supports up to six thermocouple inputs, each scanned sequentially and displayed with its channel number. All six trip points remain active and armed throughout the scanning cycle, providing continuous protection across every monitored point.
The standard unit accepts Type J and Type K thermocouples in both grounded and ungrounded configurations. Other thermocouple types can be accommodated on request. Ungrounded thermocouples are generally preferred to avoid stray currents that can affect reading accuracy.
Yes. The TTD™ model of the TDX6 is rated for Class I, Division 2, Group D hazardous areas, making it suitable for gas compressor stations, wellhead facilities, and other locations where flammable gases may be present under abnormal conditions. Note that an isolation barrier is required when interfacing with equipment rated for Class I, Division 1 areas.
The TDX6 is available in models that operate from CD ignition systems, 120 VAC (50/60 Hz), 80–250 VDC, and 24 VDC supplies. This range of options makes it compatible with both field-based engine installations and standard industrial panel environments.
Yes. Pressing the thermocouple read push button allows operators to step manually through the channels and hold on a specific one for detailed observation. The unit automatically resumes normal scanning approximately three seconds after the button is released, so continuous protection is never interrupted.
If any thermocouple input goes open-circuit, the display shows a fault indicator for that specific channel—a "1" appears to the right of the channel number—while the trip point for that channel continues to operate. This allows operators to quickly identify a wiring or sensor fault without losing protection on the remaining channels.
